Curtin Heritage Living is committed to providing the highest level of care to our residents. For that to occur, we have introduced significant management, quality and care processes. These processes ensure that the environment in which we work and live and the care that is provided to our residents is of the highest quality.
The Australian government has implemented several additional measures to ensure that the quality of care and services in Australian Government funded aged care homes is maximised.
We also undertake accreditation by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. Accreditation is an ongoing assessment of our work practices and how they affect our residents. Accreditation focuses on our ability to have systems in place that ensure that residents live in a safe and pleasant environment and that care focuses on the resident’s needs and wishes. The care that we provide must be evaluated on an ongoing basis and improvement made when and where necessary. The standards focus on:
- Dignity and Choice
- Assessment and Planning
- Personal and clinical care
- Services and supports for daily living
- The service environment
- Feedback and complaints
- Human resources
- Organisational governance
Our homes have been awarded accreditation from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission after demonstrating that we have achieved all of the prescribed quality standards. Accreditation is awarded after an audit of all documentation and a series of site interviews with staff, management, residents and family members.
Even after accreditation is awarded, we continue to work towards maximising the level and quality of care provided to you. The Commission will monitor Curtin Heritage Living on an ongoing basis to ensure you continue to receive a high level of care and that all standards continue to be met. The Commission will make visits to the home in response to complaints made by residents or their relatives and will also make spot visits to see that the home continues its work towards excellence.
You have an opportunity to contribute to the quality process by providing ongoing feedback to us. You can also contact the Commission during a visit, or if you feel that we have not addressed your concerns.
