About Us

Our goal has always been simple – to ensure our residents are able to continue a life well lived in the later years of their lives, in the area in which they grew up.

Founded by Neighbours,
For Neighbours

Curtin Heritage was founded in 1979 by local members of the community with a single, purpose: to ensure there would always be quality aged care for the residents of Cottesloe, Mosman Park, Claremont and Peppermint Grove. It was neighbours looking after neighbours then, and it remains so today. In the decades since, we have provided a much-needed range of aged care services to residents of every socio-economic background — because quality care should never be a question of means.

Curtin Heritage is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone -clients, team members and community members alike – feels welcome and valued. We are committed to nurturing respect, understanding and equity in all aspects of our work, from the boardroom to the bedside.

Not-for-Profit, Not by Accident

We are a viable, self-sustaining not-for-profit incorporated association and a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), holding Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) status. This means every dollar we earn is returned to the care, homes and people we serve.

Curtin Heritage is managed by a Board of Directors that oversees all aspects of care provision, supported by a membership of residents with a keen and personal interest in the standard of aged care services in their own neighbourhood.

Our Values

Client Focused

  • Our clients are at the centre of everything we do
  • We recognise our clients as individuals and respect their individual needs, preferences, and goals
  • We encourage individuals to contribute to our community in ways that are purposeful and fulfilling

Community orientated

  • We go beyond providing services, to creating communities
  • Our community is a single team that works together for a single purpose – providing high quality, individualised services to our clients
  • Although part of a small community, we recognise people as individuals and are inclusive. We are equals and embrace individual differences, change and innovation
  • We actively integrate with the wider community
  • We will listen to the local community and respond to the ever-changing needs of aged care

Accountable

  • We are accountable to all the people whose lives we touch
  • We accept responsibility and ownership of our roles and our actions
  • We recognise clients as individuals and permit them self-determination, choice, and accountability, even if there is an element of risk
  • We will ensure sustainability so that we can provide care for generations to come

Simplicity focused

  • We keep things simple and user friendly
  • We are focused and direct our efforts towards our client
  • We are flexible and actively seek contemporary ways of doing things
  • We embrace technology to assist in the delivery of simple, client focused services

Focus on Living

Our goal has always been a simple one: to ensure that residents can continue a life well lived in the later years, in the place they have always called home. Every decision we make, from how we design our living environments to how we deliver aged care support, is guided by that ambition. We keep things uncomplicated, client-focused, and open to better ways of doing things.

As a long-standing community aged care organisation, we are accountable to every person whose life we touch. We accept responsibility for our actions, honour the right of each resident to self-determination and choice, and remain committed to the long-term sustainability of Curtin Heritage so that the care we provide today endures for generations to come.
