A Lighter Touch, When That’s All You Need
The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is an Australian Government-funded program providing entry-level support for older people who need a little assistance to continue living independently and safely at home. It is designed for those who require occasional or lower-level support to maintain their health, wellbeing, independence, and connection to community – the kind of help that keeps life running smoothly rather than reshaping it.
Clinical supports under CHSP include nursing services and allied health and therapy services. Independence supports span personal care, individual and group social support, flexible respite, transport assistance, and goods, equipment and assistive technology. Everyday living supports cover domestic assistance, home maintenance and modifications, and meals and other food services.
CHSP services are subsidised by the Australian Government, with clients generally contributing a small fee based on the type of support received and their individual circumstances. These contributions help sustain the ongoing delivery of services while keeping care affordable and accessible.
Access to CHSP generally begins with an assessment through My Aged Care, which determines eligibility and identifies the supports that will help you remain living independently. Our Curtin at Home team can help you make sense of the assessment process and explore the services best matched to your needs.
