Residential Care Pricing & Fees

Your Guide to Residential Care Fees

We understand that aged care pricing can feel overwhelming. Our team is here to help explain your options and provide guidance based on your individual financial circumstances.

Before entering residential aged care, you will need to complete a means assessment based on your income and assets.  For most older Australians this will carried out by Services Australia. While the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) completes the assessment for people receiving support from the DVA. These assessments help determine if you are eligible for government assistance with care and accommodation costs. Some fees are standard across all residential aged care services and care, while others may depend on your personal financial situation.

Rest assured, clinical care, such as nursing and medical support, is funded by the government for every resident, regardless of means.

Understanding Our Fees

Basic Daily Fee

Payable by all residents, the Basic Daily Fee contributes to everyday living expenses such as meals, cleaning, laundry, utilities, and general services. This fee is set by the Australian Government and is calculated at up to 85% of the full single Age Pension. The current rate is $66.80 per day and is reviewed and updated twice yearly, in March and September, in line with government changes to the Age Pension.

Hotelling Contribution

Applicable to residents assessed as being able to contribute to the cost of care, the Hotelling Contribution assists with the cost of services including catering, cleaning, laundry, utilities, and property maintenance. This fee is determined through a means assessment based on your income and assets. For residents receiving a Centrelink pension, the contribution is assessed by Services Australia; for residents receiving a Department of Veterans’ Affairs pension, the assessment is completed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. The contribution currently ranges from $0 to $22.15 per day, with the final amount confirmed once you enter care.

Non-Clinical Care Contribution

Applicable to residents assessed as being able to contribute to the cost of care, this contribution supports non-clinical services such as personal care assistance, mobility support, and lifestyle activities — all clinical care costs remain fully funded by the Australian Government. This contribution is means-tested and based on your income and assets. The maximum daily rate is currently $107.32, with a lifetime cap of $137,917.01 or a maximum contribution period of four years.

Premium Services

Optional, and available to any resident looking for extra services or amenities, Premium Services cover anything you choose to purchase beyond the government-funded offering. You select the services and amenities you want, sign an agreement, and pay for them either as a daily fee or as you use them. Choosing premium services is entirely up to you — you’re welcome to decide against them altogether, or to agree to them and select your preferred amenities once you’ve settled into your new home.
